the nursery

With only 90 days left, we are finally making headway in the nursery. (Or, I should say, Chris is making headway in the nursery.) I, of course, can't be in the room while he's working with the paint. We've got all the furniture, although we haven't put the crib together yet. We're still looking for a glider...but everything else is ready to go. All that's left is the paint...which is what Chris started this weekend. We've painted the top half of the nursery yellow and the bottom is a light sage green, dark sage green stripe. Then, we're going to put a white chair rail with a small ledge and pegs. The white board in the picture below is just a piece of wood we had to see what it's going to look like. It's actually turning out better than we ever expected. We absolutely LOVE it and can't wait to see the finished product....with Baby Mayes in the room and all!

six months and counting

Well, we've made it to six months. We're in the third trimester now...the home stretch!! Not too much longer to go now! Yesterday we went to our epidural class at the hospital (which was a bit of a waste of time....and if nothing else, scared us to death) and next week we start our six week childbirth classes. We're looking forward to those.

As for the baby, we had the six month check-up last week (see the new picture below) and everything is perfect. In fact, Dr. Garas said to keep doing exacly what I'm doing, because everything looks terrific! (I guess the Blizzards twice a week are working for me!) The baby's heartbeat was 155bpm (normal is between 140-160bpm). Baby Mayes is definitely kicking a lot more, although it's nothing uncomfortable yet. It's just a little "whoosh"....just more frequent. The most uncomfortable thing right now, is finding a position to sleep in. Not an easy thing to do. And, about the house....it's coming along. We've got the baseboards up in the kitchen, now we just have to add wood filler over the holes (minor details in the grand scheme of things). We're getting ready to fix up the nursery, now that the crib finally came (after two damaged ones)! That should be a lot more fun than the floors, and we will definitely be sure and post pictures as we progress.

the kick

I think we've hit a milestone in our pregnancy! Last night, for the first time, we were able to see the baby kick. I laid down, and Chris could see a little "poof" when the baby kicked. How incredible! I'm beginning to feel the kicks a little more frequently, but not very powerful yet (which I'm thankful for).

We went to a young adult picnic on Sunday (see the picture below) and I've now found that the maternity shorts with the panels around the whole waist are unbelievably H-O-T! This could be a long summer! So, here's a more flattering, one week short of six month picture.
