Jesus and the Mickey Mouse Sword

During this Easter season, Warren has learned quite a bit about what Easter is all about.  He's learned a bit more graphically than we probably would've liked, but nonetheless, I think he's starting to really "get it."  Last night, as we finished reading his Bible story, went something like this:

Warren told me how the mean soldiers came and "smashed a crown of thorns on Jesus' head.  And blood came dripping down his face.  And then they nailed his hands and feet to the cross.  And the three ladies that were there were so sad, they cried and cried." Then, he changed the story and it became a little more real.  Well, for a little bit.

Warren:  Mommy, what if the mean soldiers came and took Harper away?
Me:  What do you mean?
Warren:  What if they came and took Harper away like they took Jesus away?  You and me and Daddy would be so sad.  We would cwy and cwy and cwy.
Me:  You're right, Warren.  We would be very sad, wouldn't we?
Warren:  But, you know what, Mommy?
Me:  What, Warren?
Warren:  If those mean soldiers came and took Harper, I could go get my Mickey Mouse sword.  But, you need to put new batteries in it, because those batteries don't work.  So, after you kiss me goodnight, and finish putting up the groceries, would you put new batteries in my Mickey Mouse sword?
Me:  Sure!
Warren:  Because if my Mickey Mouse sword has new batteries, then I could light it up and I could catch those mean soldiers in the night time so they couldn't get Harper.  Because my sword can light up at night and the soldiers' swords can't!

Anyone have any C batteries?

Dance Party USA

Today we took a break from soccer to try our hands at dancing.  Warren has some pretty "sick" robot moves and Harper....well, while Harper may not be an avid soccer player like his big brother (insert laugh here), he definitely has the moves.  Check him out.  (Excuse the piles of laundry in the background.)

Grass Angels and Spinning - 1....Soccer Game - 0

Is everyone good with my plan?  If so, give me a "thumbs up!"
All I can say is that we've made it to Week 4!!  It hasn't been easy, but we did it!  Warren loves the idea of being a soccer player, but clearly his priorities are elsewhere.  This week was "game week" where the kids played games rather than completed the drills.  We were fairly certain one of two things would happen.  1 - Like any good parent, we thought Warren would be a natural....the star of the game.  2 - Warren would have melt down after melt down when he either a) didn't get the ball or b) wasn't the fastest person on the team.  If you sided with 1....while we do appreciate the high praise, I would invite you over to our house for a glimpse into the life of Warren.  If you chose 2, you are correct...although "meltdown" is a bit of an exaggeration.

The game was spent running back and forth between the rest of the team and giving Harper a kiss.  Oh, and when that wasn't going on, Warren was laying in the grass making grass angels or holding conversations with the clouds.  Or, spinning around until he made himself so dizzy he fell down.  Clearly, there was too much going on to be involved in actually kicking or defending the ball...or being part of the team, for that matter.
You want me to do what?

Come on guys, it's like this...

Maybe I can sneak away to give Harper a kiss.  Hee hee!
